Following the soccer game we all drove to Truckee to get Owen his season pass for skiing. Kids 4 and under get free ski passes to all the major ski resorts. You have to go in person to get the pass so we drove over there and got the pass and some burgers and came back. Joey got to print out his season pass too--so as soon as the snow falls those two boys are ready to go! I wonder if snow will fall this winter--I feel like two ski passes may jinx it--but we will see!

Soccer and Ski Passes!
Owen started soccer this year! He is SUPER excited about it! He couldn't wait for his first game, which really was soccer drills but at this point he doesn't know the difference. It was a beautiful day for soccer and we had fun watching him play.

Four Day Work Weekend
Two weekends ago Joey and his friend William went up to the land to cut down some trees. This weekend was the first that I had seen what they had done. Words and pictures can't even begin to describe how much they got done in a day! It is insane and makes the raking and trimming we did before that point laughable! They did SO much!
Since they got so much done we were ready to have the mill up here about a month before schedule. What project goes ahead of schedule??! This may be the only time that happens with this project so I must document it. We rented a Bobcat for the weekend and William came up for another work day on Saturday and they got so much done again! It is fun to see (especially when you aren't the one working).

The cabin site!
The Douglas Fir that will make up most of the structure of the cabin. It was huge! I can't believe Joey and William cut that down! :/
Climbing and counting how old the tree was
It is so nice that I hardly ever have to give these boys baths...they just hate getting dirty.
What? Is there something on my face?
Reading on/with Daddy
Owen living the dream. Bobcats are where Schad dreams come true.
Prepping the land for the mill to come the next day. I can't get over how much Will and Joey did in ONE DAY! Look at that pile of logs!
Is it like Father like Son or like Son like Father? Either way ALL the boys in my family were dirty this weekend!
This by far was the most bizarre solution to a dusty face and body. I still can't believe this happened. And by the look on my Dad's face it was fun.
The "e" needs a little work--we have had a few instances where he writes his name backwards and it comes out "Newo" so we are pretty proud of this spelling in the clay! :)
A couple blueberry faces reading with Grandma
The workers taking a brownie break
The size of the trees these guys cut down and moved around with the Bobcat is SO amazing to me!
Standing by what will soon be the beams, siding, floors, trim, dining room table, etc. in the cabin! Owen can't wait to help Daddy build it next summer--when he is old enough (5).
Jello letters with Grandma! YUM!
The sawmill at work!
If it was possible Joey would probably make the beams this big! haha Bigger the better!
I don't know which kid is more excited about all of this--Owen or Joey!
Two boys lovin' life!
I think we are going to need to build a bigger cabin--the wood stack just keeps getting bigger!!
Hanging out at the creek while Joey works on the mill. I think I see more of this scene in our future!

Baby #3!
I have made it to the halfway point of my pregnancy!
So far Owen wants a brother and he wants to name him Sandy. :/ Levi has no idea what I am talking about when I ask him if he wants it to be a boy or a girl. :) We will see on or around January 19th if the boys will get another brother or a sister!

Labor Day Weekend!
We had Adam and Anna back up to Quincy this year for JoshuaFest. The first day they were here we had Adam's parents over for a greek-themed lunch. Adam's mom happens to be Greek and the day before they came Joey and I were watching Barefoot Contessa and she was doing a Greek themed meal--so we copied it. It was SO good! :) We hung out all weekend
and then went over to Building429 and Switchfoot concerts. It was so
fun to see them again and catch up!
And this shot's main point was to get Joey's awesome Greek ribs in there but they are behind the water pitcher. :) They were really great too!
Hiking to the Q!
Half way there--we had to stop because the kids love looking out at the airport!
It was a little too shadowy for a good shot anyway. :)

Not that you can tell--but this is the Switchfoot concert...

Levi Plays Tennis Now Too!
A month ago Levi could hardly hold a racquet, let alone hit the ball. But as the summer went on and the more he got to watch Owen hit, the more interested and coordinated he got! He loves to play as much as Owen does and is drop hitting on the side lines when I'm not feeding him balls. It's pretty cute to see his little miniature 2 year old body out there playing! It won't be long before he gives Owen a run for his money...:)
He means business! (He puts his hat on backwards like that himself by the way...)
Focus!
