Whiskeytown Falls

Joey had the morning off so we decided to go for a hike at Whiskeytown Falls--which is about a twenty minute drive from home.  We were looking forward to letting Maya off the leash and getting out in the woods.  When we were about five miles from the trail head, there was a big banner across the road--"Waterfall Week--starting April 21st"  We looked at each other and were like, oh great, it is going to be a zoo out there!  The parking lot was full, and we contemplated not going since a trail full of people and more than that--other dogs--wasn't really what we had imagined.  But we were there...so we went.  We were so glad we did!  Waterfall week turns out to be a really neat event put on by the Friends of Whiskeytown.  For instance--if you go to all four waterfalls around Whiskeytown Lake this week--you can turn in your "passport' at the visitors center for a prize.  :)  We both were impressed by how many people the event brought to the trails, and actually had a great time hiking with company.  :)  It may even motivate us to get back out there this week to fill up our "passports" so we can collect our prize.  :)

Owen looking totally bored as the mist from the waterfall is hitting his face and another drop off is right behind him...
