Sardine Lakes

Joey took a four day weekend this weekend so we spent the day yesterday hiking near the Sierra Buttes.  It was really beautiful and the kids did the best they ever have on a hike!  Which made it so nice!

We also started our four day weekend off with a bounty of veggies and zucchini bread from one of the nurses at the hospital.  How amazing is that?!  All organic and fresh from the farm that morning.  :)

Thank you Carol for the gorgeous and delicious veggies!

Headed to the Sardine Overlook--2 miles!

Would it be a hike if Owen didn't stop to rock climb in the middle of it?

Levi still has it easy but he is getting anxious to walk "self".  "I do it!"  I think when that happens the length of our hikes will be seriously shortened and the time will be seriously lengthened.  Here's hoping he lasts in the backpack at least a few more months!

Holding hands and singing songs with this little champ the whole way.  He was a rock star out there!  And it wasn't an easy hike!  The sad part is that what kept him going was the creek that we were going to swim in...which is why he wore his suit.  We kept trying to tell him that there was no creek but he kept saying, maybe around the next corner...

No creek--but we did find water to look at!  So beautiful!

Snack break!

Happy hikers!

We used the self-timer on this one--the camera was sitting on top of the hiking backpack which was on a sloping hill.  Pretty amazing that 1. the fear of my camera falling isn't too obvious on my face and 2. we actually got a family photo!  :)

Two happy boys!
