Tennis Training at Age Two :)

Owen got to play tennis with GrandpaLeo while we were in Colusa.  My dad invented a tennis ball on the end of a fishing pole so we didn't have to keep chasing the ball.  Owen is pretty little, but loved getting to "play tennis GrandpaLeo!"

Kathy Comes to Town

We were just spoiled by Kathy visiting for the last ten days.  It was so nice to have her help--I was SO pampered and spoiled!  She made amazing meals--homemade bread, homemade caramel rolls, homemade soup, enchiladas, parfaits etc.  :)  Here are some pictures from her camera for the time she was here.

Four days old--sleeping like a baby :)

"I drink it!"

Crazy Grandma!

Lots of free time spent like this :)

Coffee with Daddy and Grandma before work

Me and my "baby" who is now officially a little boy

We celebrated Father's Day a day early and went fishing.  Which is fitting because we also went fishing for Mother's Day...

"I go fishing with Daddy!"

"I touch his nose.  I wanna touch his nose!"  Owen loves to hold his baby brother and he really loves touching his ears and nose.  :)

Slip and Slide

It was so hot last weekend that Joey went to run errands for me and came home with a slip and slide!  For Owen apparently but I'm pretty sure he had the most fun.  He set it up on the hill so it was extra fun!  Owen was cautious at first but couldn't get enough after he gave it a try.  :)

Hospital Pictures

Some pictures to remember our time at the hospital.  It was fun to be close to family this time and have them visit us in the hospital.  Unfortunately we didn't get a picture with Aunt K(yrstin) and my mom, but we loved having them visit too.  :)

Maternity entrance on June 3rd!  Thought I was going to have a baby that day--Levi had other plans.  :)

Owen seeing Levi for the first time--so sweet!

"I'm gonna touch him!  I wanna hold him!"

"ahhh, I little brother"

Sleepy daddy and sleepy baby

Anna and Em came to meet the newest cousin!

Colusa

We had fun in Colusa with the cousins the first week we were there.  Memorial day weekend Joey was there most of the weekend so after one of my doctors appts we went to the Sacramento Zoo.  :)

Bugs!

Isn't a baby kangaroo called a Joey?

The giraffes were so cool!

Shed to Office Conversion!

Last fall I had the idea to take the shed we have in our backyard and convert it to my own office space.  I just thought it would be so fun to have a separate space and the feel of a garden office.  :)  Also, it would free up a bedroom and now with our little Levi we could use the extra room.  :)  It's a win-win!

I love being married to Joey because if I can dream it he pretty much can do it.  If only he had more time!  That's where my favorite father in law comes in...:)  Skills AND a week of "vacation" at our house--what more could I ask for??

Before and during and afters:

Let's get this project started!

Framing for the new window

Working into the night--there's half of my new window!

The workers

The old shed door.  And a new window installed!

Where the new door will go

What are father in laws for if it isn't to spend their vacation helping you with a project?
Tape and texture time.  Jim--can I get you a beer?  I don't want you working too hard.  :)

Framing in the window and soon to be adding a flower box!

One of my projects--laying the floor.  Lesson learned: don't decide to lay laminate flooring when you are 7.5 months pregnant.  Leaning over and a basketball in your belly just don't mix.  ;)
But I did it!  And I did the baseboards myself too!

Months after the start and of course many hours of work later--my new office!

Not too decorated yet, but a great little space to work!  And
don't worry--there is an air conditioner.  :)

I love my new garden office!

HE is here! Finally! :)

Announcing Levi James Schad! 7 lbs 14 ounces, 20.5 inches of perfect little baby boy! We are so excited!

What a day! I'm so thankful and relieved to have him OUT sleeping on my chest as I write this, with labor and delivery behind me. I'm also so thankful to my doctors for working with me and letting me try for a vaginal birth. I'm ALSO thankful for my parents who are watching Owen now and have welcomed us back home to Colusa the past three weeks so we could try to make this happen.

I want to get a little bit of his birth story down before I forget--the day is already such a blur!

This morning they started me on pitocin after the catheter they tried to use to help me dilate only dilated me a half cm in 12 hours. I started feeling contractions almost right away. About three hours later they broke my water to speed things up. They also increased the pitocin drip. I went into this delivery hoping to do it naturally--no drugs no epidural. Since I hadn't experienced contractions with Owen I wanted to get the full experience. So I thought... Two hours of bawling through contractions and very little dilation changed my mind. I'm so glad I went through the few hours of pain I did because it gave me a glimpse of what people experience when they do it naturally. But I am also SO glad that I got the epidural! :).

A couple hours after the epidural I was still dilated to 5 cm. I had been there for two hours. I was a little discouraged and anxious when I heard that nothing had happened in two hours. But about an hour after my discouragement I started to feel some strong contractions through the epidural. So she checked me again and I was fully dilated--ready to push! I think my jaw dropped to the ground when my nurse said that. So she got the room ready and about twenty mins of pushing later we had our little Levi.

I'd better go--the baby is crying. :). Lots of pictures to follow of course but here is one of Levi with Daddy. :)

The Waiting Game

Today we were scheduled for a csection at 1:30 pm. My doctor told us that she would check to see if I am dilated before I go in for the csection and if I am dilated 3 cm that she would consider an induction instead of the csection. So we headed down here still unsure what was ahead but knowing that we finally get to meet our baby very soon!

We got checked in and did an hour and a half of prep for the csection. I met with the anesthesiologist team who explained the csection process and I signed all the releases necessary. When I finally got to see my doctor she told me that I will most likely be having a csection but she will check...

When she checked I was only 2 cm. But then she told me if I really really want to try to have a vbac (vaginal birth after caesarean) that she is willing to go another route and induce me with a catheter instead of medication. I told her I really wanted to. :). Which does mean a much longer process. And it means that we have to wait even longer to meet our little munchkin. But Joey and I have been passing the time with Netflix and episodes of 24. We hope that we don't end up watching more than one season during our wait. :)

Hopefully we will have a baby soon!
